Candidates are not required to answer the entire questionnaire. This is a way for you as a Wicomico resident to understand their position on disability related issues.

As of October 21st 2026: only one candidate has answered. I’II update here and on social media when other candidates share their answers!

Based on the last census and survey data, we know that Wicomico County was home to almost 12% of people with disabilities. The same way that data showed 28% of people with disabilities in Wicomico live in poverty!

Since this data isn’t fresh, we know these percents have grown especially for our youth population. Not only the number of Wicomico residents with disabilities, but those affected by poverty.

Disability impacts everyone — from babies to adults. Anyone can acquire a disability at any point in their life.

We also all age into disability. Many of the issues facing our aging community overlap with those with disabilities. It’s critical to think about accessibility for both communities!

Our local elected officials make decisions that impact us. It’s why it matters so much who represents us.

They help shape local legislation, create budgets, and engage within the community.

Local elected officials are the ones who are not only in the community the most, but the ones who should understand needs in their community.

We need elected officials who understand and will work towards creating the access and inclusion that we need.

That includes funding ADA compliant roads and sidewalks, organizations, and education. These are just a few examples!

For rural regions like Wicomico, we need officials who will promise to prioritize the needs of the disability community.

Disabled voters deserve to be informed about the issues that matter to us.

The goal of this questionnaire is to understand a general overview of where each candidate stands on the issues that are relevant to us. It’s also to raise awareness of the disability issues that are affecting us.

The candidate questionnaire is non-partisan and was sent to all candidates.
