I am currently waiting to hear back from Rep. Andy Harris and Dan Schwartz on the questionnaire. I tried various time since summer, but understand the election time is busy, but am looking forward to hearing back soon!

The disability vote MATTERS! This week just concluded Disability Voting Rights Week which I was proud to participate in.
Maryland is home to 1.1 MILLION adults with disabilities. That means that 24% of adult Marylanders have a disability!
While that data is from 2022, it shows how many belong to the disability community.
Anyone can at any time can join the disability community. With that in mind, we know our community has definitely grown since that data in 2022.
Elected officials are the ones who make decisions that impact us.
This is even more relevant for our federal legislators.
District 1 is the LARGEST Congressional district in Maryland!
The Eastern Shore consists of NINE counties! Not only does District 1 cover the entire Eastern Shore: it covers parts of Baltimore, Harford, and Carroll Counties!
Congressional representatives are important to secure funding, being a voice for the needs of their District, and representing their constituents at the federal level.
For the disability community, this is vital.
Americans with the Disabilities Act is the biggest piece of civil rights legislation for people with disabilities. Congress passed it. They also can add new pieces to it, such as web accessibility.
This is one example of why who serves in Congress makes a difference.
Beyond examples like that, we also need legislators who will work on important bills and serve the community. Federal legislators can remove barriers. They have the power to work on important bills regarding funding for disability services and Social Security, as two examples.
They can defend disability rights at the federal level.
For the disability community, we need elected officials who understand and will work towards creating the access and inclusion that we need.
Disabled voters deserve to be informed on the issues that matter to them.
The goal of this questionnaire is to help voters get a general overview of where each candidate stands on the issues that are relevant to us.
It’s also to raise awareness of issues, including legislation, that are important to the disability community.
This questionnaire is non-partisan and was sent to all candidates before the Pr.
