About The Founder

Hi, I’m Dominique!

Did I ever mention that I’m really awful at introductions and get nervous? That also apparently applies to written introductions. (This was a bad attempt at a bad joke. Bear with me, folks.)

If you spend a lot of time on my social media outlets than you may know a lot of about my organization. However, you likely know very little know about me. (This goes back to my bad joke. Sorry about that.) I love focusing on what this organization represents, my passion, and the energy that I put into. However, I want you to know more about me. I tend to be quiet about myself. It’s a habit!

Obviously, you know either from deductions (Sherlock style) or my articles that I’m a full-time wheelchair user. And, duh, it is pink. (Is there any other choice? I think not.)  I have an unspecified neuromuscular disease, but it’s of undiagnosed origin. What exactly does that mean? It means that I go through a lot of testing for more conclusive answers and hope and pray for a diagnosis one day. It has affected majority of my life — as well as my body.

I try not to be defined by my disability/illness or the fact that I rely on my pink wheelchair(s) to get me through life. As my illness progresses, I’ve learned to adapt.

I love so many things — including writing, art, and reading. I love, love creating things. I love making things whether they’re homemade gifts or DIYs. You can find me often crafting or reading a book because it makes my introverted heart so happy. My passion is writing. I hope to one day see my writing be published somewhere. And — this is me. A little introverted with a lot of dreams. And with a lot of (bad) puns.

My heart’s passion is to help people and to make a substantial difference in this beautiful world.  This project was founded by my desire to put myself out there to help people and to combine my passion of writing to help others. This project has transformed my life in many ways. It’s lead to meeting so many people and forming beautiful friendships.

I am so many things, but one thing I believe that I am most is a dreamer.

If you’d like to outreach to me than please shoot an email to thegirlinthepinkwheelchair@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you!
